Cymbidium tigrinum specimen

Cymbidium tigrinum - Photo by Richard Lindberg

The genus Cymbidium (Cym) contains more than 40 species growing throughout Asia and the Pacific Islands.

Cymbidium tigrinum grows in the Chinese Himalayas, Myanamar and India. It is a fragrant full sun lithophyte. Cold to cool growing.

Although I do have a Cymbidium tigrinum, that's not it. This plant was at show-and-tell at the San Francisco Orchid Society.

Mine is a little smaller, shown on the right. I just now brought it in to show it the picture so it will know what I expect from it. It ran back to the greenhouse, slammed the door and is playing loud music.
