Back from retreat

The retreat was wonderful but I need a day to decompress. There is a pool party this afternoon here at Charterstone. That will be the perfect place to relax and catch up with friends and hear about trips they are planning this summer.

We looked at the lives of Thomas Merton, Carl Jung, Huston Smith and Nelson Mandela. These are all great souled men who were also human. We didn't really study them in an intellectual sense, rather we looked at them in terms of their spiritual journey and how we could use them as a model for our own spiritual quest.

This is an orchid blog and it will remain an orchid blog. Orchids are very spiritual. But if anybody wants to talk further about non-orchidaceous spirituality, we can do that on this thread.

  1. Sounds like you had a great time. What was said about Jung? Anything in relation to his archetypes?

  2. To a certain extent, but as part of his spiritual journey. To help us see uniqueness as a limitation and a wall. That the history that the archetypes represent are a unifying force. Another aspect for the group is that we all have fantasies and strange dreams, and by themselves aren't bad as many are taught.

I thought a lot about the large stone cube in the garden of Jung's country home in Bollingen. What would I put on my cube? I have the feeling that orchids are my stone cube. I can't explain how, but it seems like a true thing.
