Brassia Edvah Loo x longissima

Brassia Edvah Loo x longissima - Flower photo by Richard LindbergBrassia (Brs) contains 29 species spread throughout tropical America. They are very prone to pleating if not watered enough during growth spurts.

This Brassia has a great flower and grows well for me. I have been able to divide plants every year. When I divide a plant I often get individual backbulbs.

Brassia Edvah Loo x longissima sprouted backbulbs - photo by Richard Lindberg

I just found a pot dated two years ago that had three single backbulbs. Two of them were growing well and the third is just now sprouting. I took the two with roots and potted them in bark. I put the third back in rock and will see if it continues to grow.

It looks as if there was no activity for more than a year. Backbulbs have their own time schedule.
