Dendrobium Stephen Batchelor

Dendrobium Stephen Batchelor - Flower photo by Richard LindbergDendrobium Stephen Batchelor - Plant photo by Richard LindbergI have to admit that when I got this plant two years ago I was less than enthusiastic. I do not have many Dendrobium plants and those I do have are a bother. They take up a lot of space and don't fit my watering scheme very well. Now I am starting to really like this Dendrobium alexandrae x Dendrobium johnsoniae cross. Both of these are from Papua and New Guinea blooming in fall and winter.

I took a new plant picture this morning along with a new flower picture. I like the new flower picture much better than the one I took last year. This is the second of the three divisions of the original plant to bloom.

The third division was all small backbulbs. It sprouted and is growing well but I think it is unlikely to bloom until next year.
