Laelia perrinii

Laelia perrinii - Flower photo by Richard LindbergLaelia perrinii - Plant photo by Richard LindbergI have had this plant several years and am still trying to figure it out. Laelia perrinii grows in Brazil in the 2000 foot range, is cool to warm growing and needs bright light. It blooms for me once every couple of years, never more than one flower.

Three years ago it was on the brink of death. I failed to cut back on watering soon enough as the temperatures started to cool in the fall and lost a lot of Cattleya and Laelia roots that winter. This is the first Laelia perrinii flower since that year.

The plant is in a fairly small pot and in rock. It seems to be improving in health so I am going to leave it alone for another year.
