Gongora leucochila

Gongora leucochila - Flower photo by Richard LindbergLillian has two Gongora leucochila in her collection and they are both in bloom now. They have nice pendant flowers, about a dozen on each inflorescence. Gongora leucochila - Plant photo by Richard LindbergThese are plants that didn't bloom last year. I didn't do anything specific with them but the general health of the collection has improved and there have been several plants blooming this year that didn't last year.

The genus Gongora (Gga) contains 52 species from Mexico to Bolivia and Brazil at low altitudes. These plants have mostly pendant flowers. Water and fertilize regularly. Gongora leucochila grows from Southern Mexico through Central America in tropical rainforests at low altitudes. It is warm to hot growing, fragrant and blooms in the spring.
