Bulbophyllum echinolabium 'Golden Gate' x self

Bulbophyllum echinolabium 'Golden Gate' x self - Flower photo by Richard LindbergI went to the SFOS meeting this month and was blown away by the show and tell table. The San Francisco crowd, used to seeing great plants every month, was impressed and applauded several times.

Bulbophyllum echinolabium grows in Borneo. It is warm to hot growing and likes high humidity and frequent watering. It is unpleasantly fragrant and blooms in spring and summer.

I bought $20 in tickets and won three plants, any of which could sell for $20. This Bulbophyllum echinolabium was one of them.

It looks as if the blog is back in business. There are more rough edges on this move to the new ISP but the pictures are visible again. This move was necessary and has been a learning opportunity.

  2. Is this a sequential bloomer ? I see the new growth (not sure what it is) above the flower.
