Cattleya intermedia alba 'Pine Knot'

Cattleya intermedia alba 'Pine Knot' seedling with very active growth

Cattleya intermedia grows from Sao Paulo Brazil to Uruguay and Argentina near the ocean or streams. It is fragrant, cool to warm growing and needs bright light and blooms in summer.

About six weeks ago I got some seedlings right out of a compot. I remember being a bit sceptical about them but mounted them anyway and put them at the top of the greenhouse. It is wet, warm and bright. The misters come on at just above 90 every day now with nighttime temperatures over 60. The plants seem to love it and all five are really growing quickly.

  3. This is the growing season and they are in what I imagine is a little like where they grow in nature. Still, I was surprised that they took off so well.
