Cattleya intermedia var aquinii 'Boa Vista' x 'Maria Christina'

The latest addition to my collection is this Cattleya intermedia. Just like Laelia anceps, I am in danger of having more varieties of a single species than anyone needs. At least Cattleya intermedia is a small plant. But I could not resist the splash petal color.

Dendrobium lindleyi - Flower photo by Richard LindbergCattleya intermedia grows from Sao Paulo Brazil to Uruguay and Argentina near the ocean or streams. It is fragrant, cool to warm growing. It needs bright light and blooms in summer.

A great flower picture along with good plant pictures are important in eBay sales. Roll over my plant picture to see the picture that sold this plant to me. I think that some sellers do ok with the flower picture but neglect the plant picture.

The greenhouse is a little bare of flowers but there is a lot of new growth. The temperature range is a little higher and the airflow pattern is different this year. I have already seen some flowers for the first time.
