Blc Eagle Island 'Sangria' AM/AOS

Blc Eagle Island 'Sangria' AM/AOS - Plant photo by Richard Lindberg

Blc Eagle Island 'Sangria' AM/AOSI just got a new backbulb division. It is the most healthy backbulb division I have ever seen. There are lots of great roots and two nice pseudobulbs with two eyes on one of them. Earlier this year the lead was removed and potted.

Blc Eagle Island 'Sangria' AM/AOSIt is a piece of Blc Eagle Island 'Sangria' AM/AOS, registered in 1987 by Carter and Holmes. It will be a great addition to the collection. It is a deep red, almost black. It has a velvety texture and the flowers are about 6" across.

With the new growth making the third pseudobulb and the fact that the plant will not be relying on the new roots alone, I think it is just possible that I will have a flower next year at this time. That would be exciting, but if it takes another year, that's alright too.

  1. I saw that Steve had one on ebay a couple weeks back. This must be from him. Did you get this for your time in San Fran.? Carter & Holmes will be at Fort Lauderdale Show next week, 1-14 to 16. Fred Clarke will be the speaker at the Fort Lauderdale Orchid Society on Monday. I'll be like a kid in a candy store!

  2. Yes, I wanted to buy this plant on Ebay from Christoffersen for $600, but chose instead to buy a small Eagle Island 'Sangria' from Carter and Holmes for $16.

  3. This is absolutely gorgeous! Gorgeous gorgeous!
