Cattleya maxima (alba 'Drago' x coerulea 'Hector' AM/AOS)

Cattleya maxima alba 'Drago' x maxima coerulea 'Hector' AM/AOS - Plant photo by Richard Lindberg

This compot contains my first Cattleya maxima plants. These are the lowland variety, the ones with more and taller flowers.

The plants were grown from seed and so there is quite a range of results possible. I have 4 or 5 plants in the pot and it would be nice if I got the shade of orchid (the color) that I was told was the hope that might be expressed in this mix. I could also end up with all just like either parent. That is part of the fun of seedlings.

  1. I would guess these could tend to have a paler color than the type, but as you say, unpredictable.
