Bulbophyllum lobbii 'Sonoma Gold' HCC/AOS

Bulbophyllum lobbii 'Sonoma Gold' HCC/AOS - Flower photo by Richard LindbergThis Bulbophyllum lobbii 'Sonoma Gold' HCC/AOS was one of the orchids I got at our December meeting/party in 2009. It was a very nice addition to my collection. In the picture below you can see how long the spike is.

Bulbophyllum lobbii 'Sonoma Gold' HCC/AOS - Plant photo by Richard LindbergBulbophyllum lobbii grows in Borneo, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines above 2000'. The species is warm to hot growing, fragrant and blooms in spring.

It has bloomed for the first time and I got the flower picture. I like to have a picture from the specific plant if at all possible. I see that the sphagnum has broken down and it has grown over the edge of the pot so it is time to divide and re-pot.

  1. Hey, mine still looks almost identical to what it did when it arrived - there's just a small spot on the bulb that thought about turning brown, then changed its mind. But there's no new growth happening yet above the moss where I can see it. Maybe this time next year there will be something to brag about! Thank you. All my others are putting out new leaves/bulbs. Three new canes have sprouted on the Dendrobium.
