Cattleya mendelii

Cattleya mendelii - Flower photo by Richard LindbergCattleya mendelii - Plant photo by Richard LindbergI have no notes on this Cattleya mendelii so I am not sure how long I have had it. It has bloomed before at least a couple of times. It has just opened and since there are less than two weeks to go before the open house, it will still be in bloom.

Cattleya mendelii grows in the Colombian Andes on exposed rocks. It is fragrant, cool to warm growing and needs bright light.

This plant is in rock in a 3 1/2-inch plastic pot. There are five pseudobulbs and the plant stands 12 inches above the pot.

  1. That is beautiful. I look forward to seeing any pictures of your Open House that you'll post. I'm currently planning my future greenhouse.
