Latvian Orchid Society

Inga's growing area

Orchid Slide show - Photos by IngaI recently heard from Inga of the Latvian Orchid Society. The Society is not just for sharing the enthusian for orchids, but also to be active in orchid conservation. There are 32 species of orchids native to Latvia, many of them quite rare. They mostly grow in wet meadows, marshes and forests.

They are still developing their website, but the home page is beautiful. There is a forum, including a section for those of us who don't speak the language to share.

Click on the picture on the right to see a really nice slideshow of orchid photos Inga has taken and posted on Picasa. The picture at the top of the post is part of her collection. The coconut fiber held in place with the wire is attractive and functional.
