Phaleanopsis hybrid in bloom

There are a few Phaleanopsis hybrids in Sonoma. Most are NOID. None of them do well, there is just too much light. They bloom once in a while, but never well. This is one that probably has a very nice display of grown in a better location.

This plant is still in the same pot as it was when I started taking care of the collection. I has just survived.

Roll over the plant picture so that you get a side view of the flowers trying to hide under the leaf. Instead of a tall, arching spike, we have this. And that poor flower was crowded out of its hiding place.

Napa is not a whole lot better as a place to grow Phals. Napa has the added challenge of being too wet for a potted Phal.
