First Frosty Night

Plants in the growing area

We had our first frost this morning. All the plants that should be in a greenhouse are. The plants left outdoors are ready for winter, most have not been watered for a month. These are Mexican Laelias and Cymbidium hybrids and a few other hardy Cattleyas. The area is at about half capacity, but I'm sure that will change next year.

I did a little happy dance yesterday. My first blog post was on November 6, 2008 so I have been at this for three full years. It has helped me to better appreciate my plants.

I have had the website www.backbulb.com even longer. It includes both flower pictures and a plant inventory. Part of the inventory is notes on the plant's history and the notes have been sketchy at best. This year I have improved them by adding a link to any related blog entries to the notes.

Here's to another three years of orchid blogging.
