Potinara Burana Beauty x L anceps

Potinara Burana Beauty x L anceps - Flower photo by Richard LindbergThe SCOS had its annual holiday party last night. There was a very nice dinner, a silent auction, a gift exchange and a raffle of table decorations. I got this beautiful plant in the gift exchange.

This plant is bark in a 5-inch plastic pot. There are ten pseudobulbs and it stands nine inches above the pot.

When I looked at the tag I was surprised to see Burana Beauty as one of the parents. I don't see the yellows and reds. Still, the shape is good and it is a very interesting color conbination.

I took my blooming Cattleya walkeriana as my gift. Most of the gifts were top quality blooming plants. There was also a couple of bottles of wine because, of course, we are a wine growing region. I didn't look at those because I have already had my lifetime allotment of wine. And besides, I can always find room for another orchid, especially as beautiful as this.

  1. That is beautiful! Is it a given that a plant would be temperature-tolerant with L. anceps as a parent, or are there exceptions?

  2. I am sure you are right. Thanks for pointing that out. Always looking for plants to winter outside. A division will be outside next winter as a test.
