Colmanara Wildcat 'Bobcat' AM/AOS

Colmanara Wildcat 'Bobcat' AM/AOSColmanara (Colm) Wildcat 'Bobcat' AM/AOS was registered in 1992 by Rod McLellan. It is very popular because of the long lasting flowers and how well it adapts to indoor growing. It is now known as 'Oncostele' rather than 'Colmanara' due to all the Oncidium naming madness.

Colmanara Wildcat 'Bobcat' AM/AOS - Plant photo by Richard LindbergI got this at a raffle table. I have been wanting to try some Oncidiums in sphagnum. I took the plant out of the bark and put it in sphagnum over peanuts in a 4-inch plastic pot. There are three pseudobulbs and it stands twelve inches above the pot. The new growths are a little more mature than is best for re-potting.

I will need to limit watering but not as much as for Catts. The idea is that the plastic will maintain a more even moisture level. I have two more similar hybrids that I am going to pot in the same way and see how it goes.
