Instead of potting this Wildcat in sphagnum like I did the 'Bobcat', I put this in the more traditional small fir bark over peanuts in a 5 1/2-inch plastic pot.
There are three pseudobulbs and it stands fourteen inches above the pot. The roots are pretty good and there is a new growth just starting in the right side of the newest pseudobulb.
This is easy to grow, the flowers last a long time and there can be two spikes on a single pseudobulb. But it is a large sized plant and can take a lot of room. If you have limited space I don't recommend it.
I like both - Wildcat and Bobcat Colmanaras, wish I had more room to grow them.
ReplyDeleteThey are both Wildcat varieties. Over the years several flower color patterns have developed but the all have the same history up to a point.
