Cattleya Pacific 'Red Fountain' x Summer Stars 'Circassian Angel'

Cattleya Pacific 'Red Fountain' x Summer Stars 'Circassian Angel' - Flower photo by Richard LindbergThis plant is from the Sonoma collection. It only bloomed for the first time under my care last year. It is not fragrant but very beautiful. I can't believe it is not a named cross, but the RHS database doesn't have a listing for it.

Cattleya Pacific 'Red Fountain' x Summer Stars 'Circassian Angel' - Plant photo by Richard LindbergThis plant is in sphagnum over peanuts in a 3 1/2-inch clay pot. There are four pseudobulbs and it stands nine inches above the pot. I am not thinking of making any change beyond staking it.

I have never done much staking beyond what is necessary for a rootless plant. But I am seeing too many plants where the new growth is going in an un-aesthetic direction. I will put a stake in next time I water then tie the wandering pseudobulb just before the watering after that. It seems that there is less chance of breaking the plant if it is dry.
