Cattleya BR101

Cattleya BR101Cattleya BR101Cattleya BR101 - Plant photo by Richard LindbergThis plant is in bloom again. It has bloomed every year and is a nice enough plant. I don't know anything about it so it is not salable and I don't like it well enough to keep it in the smaller sized collection.

This is in sphagnum over peanuts in a 5 1/2-inch clay pot. There are six pseudobulbs and it stands fifteen inches tall.

Since the flowers just openned and the Napa Valley Orchid Society meeting is Friday, I plan to donate it to the raffle table.

It I were keeping the plant I would pop the plant out of the pot and remove the oldest pseudobulb. It is growing in an odd direction and removing it would improve the look of the plant in the pot. I could then move the plant a little toward the side and fill in the other side with sphagnum. The plant would have room for three or four years growth before needing to be re-potted again.
